An Accountant Cashier (or Cashier-cum-Accountant) is a hybrid role responsible for managing daily cash transactions while simultaneously maintaining accurate back-office financial records. This position balances public-facing point-of-sale (POS) duties with fundamental bookkeeping, billing, and auditing responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Cashier Operations:
Process cash, credit/debit, and digital payments.
Issue accurate receipts, invoices, and change.
Manage petty cash funds and ensure cash registers are balanced at all times.
Handle customer queries regarding billing, returns, and refunds.
Accounting :
Record and categorize daily transactions in financial ledgers.
Reconcile end-of-day revenues, receipts, and bank statements.
Process invoices, verify the validity of payment vouchers, and track expenses.
Assist with month-end or year-end financial closings and prepare documents for audits.
