About the Opportunity

The role of the Witness Assistance Team (WAT) is to provide trauma informed support for victims who may need assistance to participate in the prosecution process due to the impact of the offending, their age, or other personal circumstances.

The WAT Administration Officer supports the WAT Officers with administrative functions to enable WAT Officers to provide an informative and supportive service. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and can work autonomously with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to organise, prioritise, and manage a high volume of work while consistently meeting deadlines. Experience in providing confidential secretarial support and a sound understanding of general office procedures are some of the key attributes we are looking for.

Desirable attributes include experience working in a legal or professional services environment, particularly supporting individuals with complex needs. A working knowledge of legal terminology, criminal law practices, and the operations of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions will be highly regarded.

The ODPP is an office of approximately 185 staff, comprising both legal and administrative functions. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions was established through the Director of Public Prosecutions Act, 1991 to provide an effective, fair and independent criminal prosecution service for the people of South Australia. The Office is committed to the highest ethical and professional standards.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.

Some out of hours work may be required.

Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
