Full job description
Aldermore Group – why we exist

Let us tell you a bit about us

We’re Aldermore – the award-winning bank, trusted and highly rated by over a quarter of a million customers for more than a decade. With our range of specialist mortgages, savings accounts and business finance solutions, we're backing more people to go for it.

We thrive by saying “yes” to our customers. We respect the ingenuity of entrepreneurs and their startups; we give first-timers a leg-up onto the property ladder; we open up the lending market to many; and thousands of customers chose Motonovo Finance every week to buy their next car, van or motorbike.

This is where you come in. We are on a journey. A journey defined by a destination; to deliver on our purpose.

Let us tell you a bit about the opportunity

Join our team as an Operational Risk Specialist on a 6 month fixed-term contract, where you’ll play a key role in embedding our Operational Risk Management Framework across the business.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders at all levels, providing expert guidance and promoting a strong culture of ownership, accountability, and proactive risk management. We’re looking for individuals with subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas: Fraud, Operational Resilience, Change Delivery Risk, Third Party Management, Transaction Processing, or Legal Risk.

This is a fantastic opportunity to influence risk culture and contribute to the success of a dynamic, forward-thinking organisation.

To act as an ambassador of the organisation’s values, leading by example to the team and representing the Payouts team.

What will your day look like?

Partner with key stakeholders to embed operational risk best practices across business units and ensure understanding of the risk framework.
Provide assurance to the Board on the accuracy of 1st line risk assessments and overall effectiveness of risk management.
Oversee and assure risk identification and mitigation within key projects, ensuring stakeholder alignment.
Monitor and track material risk events, ensuring high data quality and timely remedial action by 1st line functions.
Review and challenge RCSAs, identifying inconsistencies and ensuring follow-up actions are completed.
Support risk reporting to NFRC and other committees, including thematic oversight analysis with the Group Operational Risk team.
What do we expect from you?

In-depth understanding of current banking risks, issues, and events to support effective challenge and reporting.
Strong analytical skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
Proven ability to work independently and deliver results consistently.
Skilled in translating complex data into clear, actionable reports.
Over 5 years’ experience in risk or control functions within financial services.
Excellent communication, organisational, and influencing skills; adept at engaging stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
What can you expect from us?

Hybrid working model – 2 days in the office, 3 days from home
A friendly and flexible culture, the same as how we work with our customers.
A growing organisation that means there’s lots of opportunities to progress
A drive for continuous improvement, which you will be empowered to get behind from day one.
And of course, you will be rewarded competitively, with a good range of core benefits and bonus potential.
Still curious?

Join us and we’ll make the same promises to you as a colleague, as we do to each of our customers. We’re committed to building a working environment that values respect, diversity, and compassion. We welcome people regardless of age, disability, gender identity, marital status, race, faith or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and whether you’re pregnant or on family leave.

Please note that we have a thorough referencing process, which includes criminal record checks

We champion equality by supporting the exceptions to the rule and getting finance to where it’s needed.

We lend the money people save with us, to people who want to get on in life; build businesses and create employment, buy property for people to live and work in, and purchase vehicles to move families and goods around.
