Salary Range: $75,330 (90%) - $83,700 (100%) Full time equivalent
Are you passionate about waste minimisation? Do you want to help Upper Hutt residents reduce waste and live more sustainably? We’re looking for a proactive, community-minded Zero Waste Officer to join our team.
bout the Role
In this role, you’ll help deliver Upper Hutt’s waste minimisation outcomes in line with the Wellington Regional Waste Management and Minimisation Plan. Key focus areas include:
Identifying and implementing opportunities to increase resource recovery
Promoting ways to reduce, reuse, and repair, including organising or hosting community workshops and events.
This role combines office-based planning with on-the-ground delivery, with scope to bring your own ideas and expertise to help Upper Hutt residents reduce waste.
>About You
Demonstrated experience in waste minimisation, circular economy, or sustainability
Strong organisational skills and the ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate projects from concept to completion
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with diverse groups
Strong communication skills and confidence presenting information clearly and engagingly
A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Cultural competency and knowledge of te ao Māori / Te Tiriti o Waitangi
