Responsibilities
Conduct outreach to teens and young adults for participation in programming
Plan and facilitate regular workshops and social events for teens and mentoring program participants
Host weekly afterschool programming for teens during the school year and weekly programming for minimum 6-weeks during the summer,
Act as Site Supervisor for After School Matters summer and afterschool program internships
Provide 1-1 guidance for teens and young adults around their goals for academic, social, and career success
Develop and maintain relationships with teen and young adult clients of RefugeeOne, conducting regular check-ins to assess needs
Assist the Youth Education Coordinator with high school enrollments and regularly track student progress and goal achievement
These responsibilities are not exhaustive and are subject to regular review.
Experience/Education
Bilingual fluency in second language preferred: Arabic, Dari, Kinyarwanda, Pashto, Rohingya, Spanish, Swahili
Must have a valid driver’s license and use of a reliable car
Previous experience/knowledge and understanding of the Chicago Public School system, trade schools and community colleges preferred
Ability to maintain strong rapport with children, youth, and families and outside service providers, school staff and administration
Ability to lead and inspire youth in their education and career
Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds in an academic or extracurricular setting
Demonstrates exceptional problem solving skills including the ability to develop and follow-through with practical solutions and conflict negotiation
Must be flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends if needed
Ability to be resourceful, very organized, displays strong time management skills and capable of setting appropriate boundaries
Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams)
Compensation: The base annual salary range for this role is $47,000-$48,500 commensurate with education and experience. A generous benefits package is offered with full-time employment.
