About the Role
As a Whānau Ora Navigator, you will work alongside whānau experiencing complex challenges, supporting them to identify strengths, achieve their goals, and access the services and resources they need to thrive.
Using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, you will partner with whānau to develop and implement plans that build capability, resilience, and long-term wellbeing.
You will also advocate on behalf of whānau, strengthen community connections, and work collaboratively with service providers to ensure coordinated support. What you will be doing -
Partnering with whānau using a strengths-based, trauma-informed Whānau Ora approach to support their wellbeing, aspirations, and self-determination.
Building trusted relationships with Pacific and other priority whānau, identifying strengths, co-designing plans, and supporting progress towards their goals.
Providing advocacy, system navigation, and practical support to help whānau access services, overcome barriers, and build long-term capability and resilience.
Working collaboratively with community providers, stakeholders, and support networks to ensure coordinated and effective responses to whānau needs.
Representing The Fono professionally within the community and contributing to strong partnerships that enhance outcomes for whānau.
Maintaining accurate documentation, reporting, and outcome measures in line with organisational and commissioning requirements.
Working flexibly across community settings, responding to changing needs and supporting whānau experiencing complex circumstances.
Upholding The Fono's values of whānau relationships, reliability, respect, and integrity, while honouring Pacific values and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in everyday practice.
About You
What we are looking for -
A relevant tertiary qualification in social services, health, community development, or a related field.
At least 2 years' experience working with high-needs whānau, families, or communities.
Experience working with Pacific communities (highly desirable).
Strong cultural competence and relationship-building skills.
Excellent communication and advocacy abilities.
The ability to manage complex situations and competing priorities.
Strong documentation and reporting skills
A full New Zealand Driver Licence.
The ability to obtain and maintain Police Vetting clearance.
Flexibility to work across community and outreach settings.
