The Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers (DLGWV) drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing, and developing our regions. From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 580 DLGWV staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and water resources are sustainable and resilient.



The Role



Operating from within Water Services team in Toowoomba you will be part of a team managing water entitlements and access to water across the Queensland Murray Darling Basin catchments.



Key Accountabilities:

• Manage access to water including monitoring and reporting on flows and take.

• Maintain accurate and up to date metered use data for ground and surface water resources including reporting and the identification of non-compliance.

• Undertake investigations, approvals, and make recommendations on water applications and dealings under the Water Act 2000, Water Regulation 2016 and subordinate legislation relating to water dealings.

• Prepare and review technical and investigation reports, correspondence, and briefings on water entitlement management in a clear, concise, and professional manner.

• Consult, liaise and provide advice to staff, management, clients, the general public, and Government agencies on water management matters, the Water Act 2000 and relevant parts of the Planning Act 2016.

• Prioritise and coordinate workflow processes, managing multiple and conflicting deadlines to achieve performance targets in accordance with departmental priorities and objectives.

• Engage clients in the resolution of issues associated with competing demands for water and associated resources.



About You



• Excellent customer service and client engagement experience.

• Experience in the use of any information system reporting tools would be highly regarded.

• A current ‘C' class driver's licence.

• Knowlege of relevant water plans, water management protocols and other legislative frameworks will be well regarded.

• Work outside of normal office hours performing event-based water management activities.

• Travel away from the centre may be required.
