Warehouse Screening Agent
Job Description
The Warehouse Screening Agent main function is to screen and secure cargo on all export shipments for ACI as both Air Carrier and Regulated Agent using all screening methods available (X-ray, ETD, Physical) and following the rules and regulations as set by Transport Canada. By ensuring that all functions and responsibilities are completed on a timely, accurate and concise manner. ACI not only secures long-term customer relationships with our airlines and freight forwarders, but also strengthens our competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Principle Functions/Responsibilities
· Export Cargo Screening
o Verify/Identify paperwork provided by the dock workers or the office agent for the exported shipments to be screened and secured.
o Contain the security of the warehouse area/secured area to ensure that there is no security breach especially in the secured area.
o Able to perform screening using X-ray equipment, ETD equipment and physical search following rules and regulations set by Transport Canada.
o Be able to distinguish between cargo contents, suspicious items and threat items.
o Know how to stop suspect cargo from entering a supply chain or from being transported on an aircraft.
o Meet the highest level of aviation cargo screening standards as outlined in the Security Measures Respecting Air Cargo (SMRAC)
o Eliminate risk by ensuring that all cargo is screened safely and securely.
o Physically able to manipulate, unpack and search cargo weighing up to 35kgs.
o Must have the ability to see colour on the screening equipment monitor as the screener will need to distinguish between organic, mixed and metal.
o Your primary objective is to ensure the safety and security of passengers, crew, ground personnel, the aircraft and facilities of an airport servicing civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference perpetrated on the ground or in flight.
o Transport Canada develops and implements legislation and procedures to ensure this safety and it is your job to ensure you follow the guidelines and regulations without fail.
o A Cargo Screener must be able to follow internal procedures and emergency response procedures of the organization for which they are being conducted.
o A Cargo Screener must be able to use tools for opening and closing boxes, crates and other common cargo packaging.
o Advise the Security Manager on security issues and breaches.
o Carry out any tasks that may be assigned by the Managers in an effective and timely manner.
· Warehouse Dock work
o Timely and accurate identification/verification, piece count, calculated dimensional weight, breakdown, scanning, completion of warehouse receipts, and labelling for both Inbound and Outbound freights as required.
o Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload freight using appropriate motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts and by hand as needed.
o Adhere to load departure schedules to meet the requirements.
o Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
o Report any irregularities to the Senior Warehouse Dockworker
o Complete Overage, Shortage, and Damage reports when required.
o Ensure trucks are loaded in a safe manner paying attention to axle weights, load security, and dangerous goods segregation when necessary.
Competency Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, other Attributes)
· Independent with ability to work productively with minimal direct supervision.
· Strong computer skills with intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MS Office.
· Must be well organized with adequate time management skills, being able to accomplish multiple tasks in a high-pressure, high-volume environment.
· Highly motivated individual with attention to detail.
· Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
· Is results driven with a strong work ethic and a professional “can-do” attitude and approach to responsibilities with an ability to meet new challenges and changes with an open mind.
· Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
· Be at least 18 years of age.
· Must be legally authorized to work in Canada .
· Has a security clearance (RAIC-Restricted Area Identification Card), or has undergone a Canadian Criminal Background Check and a 5 year address and work history to become Authorized Cargo Representative (ACR).
Education, Training, Experience Requirements
· High School Diploma or CEGEP
· Valid forklift license is a must.
· Prior dock/warehouse experience in the transportation industry is a plus.
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
· Ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identification pass.
· Screening experience is an asset.
Shift - Sunday - Thursday 10am -6pm
