At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens (WMK), we're proud to support over 135 kindergartens across the regions of Taranaki, Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Manawatū, Kāpiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also offer a unique home-based service, Etu Ao, in Porirua and Levin, with a special focus on Pacific families.

Today, more than 6,000 children are part of the Whānau Manaaki kindergarten family, with an additional 150 children enrolled in our Etu Ao home-based programme. Together, we're building strong foundations for lifelong learning and wellbeing.
Community Description:
Waikanae kindergarten is situated in Russel reserve, near to Kapakapanui Primary School and close to Waikanae's main shops, train station and library. The kindergarten visits Russel Reserve regularly as part of the kindergarten's Bush Programme, and this programme is well supported by family members of the learning community.
The kindergarten offers a rich, well-resourced learning environment, where an extensive outdoor area provides challenge and opportunities for both active and quiet experiences. The teaching team are passionate about their commitment to continuous development and are currently strengthening their knowledge of local mana whenua histories and their evaluation processes.
The kindergarten is licenced for 42 children who attend for 6 hours each day.
Work Profile:
Full-Time Permanent Teacher - Waikanae Kindergarten
Total hours per week: 40
Monday: 8.00am - 4.30pm with 1/2 hr unpaid break
Tuesday: 8.00am - 4.30pm with 1/2 hr unpaid break
Wednesday: 8.00am - 4.30pm with 1/2 hr unpaid break
Thursday: 8.00am - 4.30pm with 1/2 hr unpaid break
Friday: 8.00am - 4.30pm with 1/2 hr unpaid break
We are looking for an enthusiastic ECE kaiako who:
Has a love for nature and fostering learning through the environment by supporting our Bush Explorers programme and fostering care and respect for te taiao.
Demonstrates a genuine commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, bicultural practice and values whanaungatanga.
Builds strong, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues, and contributes positively to team culture.
Is reflective, adaptable, and open to ongoing professional learning
Has strong current knowledge and practices to support diverse learners
