Job Description
This is a front office role which will be engaged in a dynamic trading floor environment. It primarily involves trading in USD/INR spot, forwards, options and MIFOR to achieve independent and desk budgets as well as interbank market making in the above products and continuous quoting of prices to sales for executing franchise client flows, both institutional and corporate. The role will be required to act as a backup for helping sales in structuring/pricing of derivatives in certain short-staffed scenarios. The role involves active management of risk, liquidity and exposure in the relevant products and driving all aspects of the desk which include but are not limited to pre-trade analysis, trade execution, optimal risk management of trades within prescribed limits.
• Ensuring full compliance with the regulatory framework and internal policies
• Ensuring all relevant stakeholders (vertically and horizontally) are kept abreast of key developments in business and be aware of impact on business
• Ensuring adherence to all risk limits of relevant products
• Actively drive desk operations to meet revenue budget; coordinate with other desks for overall purpose of achieving trading budget
• Represent local entity in internal/external forums if so asked
• Contribute to overall trading desk related BAU activities including managing client flows
• Work with attention to details in a high-pressure environment keeping bank interest in mind; achieve balance between revenue generation and building client franchise
• Understand market drivers, essential macro trends and their correlation with domestic assets and be ready to form/communicate independent views on the same
• Understand firm’s approach and policies for managing desk risk and applicable legal/regulatory rules
• Actively take part in tech/non-tech new initiatives of the desk for augmenting client flows or sharpening trading profitability.
• 8-12 years of demonstrated proficiency in independently handling trading risk in relevant products
• High level of fundamental and technical knowledge on markets and positionings
• Full understanding of different types of risk and their optimal hedging strategies
• Exposure to client management and identifying opportunities for client solutions
