Job Description

We are the premier traveler's host located in the heart of Washington DC. Our goal is to create a comfortable and inviting environment that celebrates cross cultural connection and exchange. We are recruiting volunteer maintenance personnel to help create a warm and welcoming space for travelers to the DC area.

General Requirement:

This role is a blend of technical skill, collaborative problem-solving, and guest-focused results. Assist with the general upkeep, repair, and preventative maintenance of the property, while minimizing disruptions to the guest experience.

Soft Skills:

Good organization and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with many types of personalities.
Sound judgment and discretional skills and work with little or no supervision.
Able to work under pressure and simultaneously prioritize multiple projects.
Able to speak, read, write and understand English.
Position Overview:

Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine inspections of guest rooms and common areas to identify and fix issues before they impact guests.
Repair Work: Address maintenance issues surfaced by the front desk or housekeeping, ranging from fixing leaky faucets to repairing drywall or furniture.
Systems Oversight: Monitor and perform basic troubleshooting on HVAC units, water heaters, and electrical panels.
Grounds & Safety: Ensure the exterior area is clean and safe.
Inventory Management: Track tools and supplies, notifying management when parts need to be reordered.
Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Basic working knowledge of plumbing, painting, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and appliance troubleshooting.
Advanced skill and ability using hand/power tools.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance throughout the property, including but not limited to: painting, carpet/floor cleaning, rodent abatement; minor adjustments on HVAC systems; minor repairs and/or replacements of room furniture, fixtures, and equipment; maintain laundry equipment; maintain kitchen equipment
Clean and maintain the hotel’s exterior areas,including the overall landscape and curb appeal.
Maintain, clean and secure tools, equipment, and supplies.
Assist with special projects and renovations when needed.
Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
Volunteer Work Exchange - You Provide:

25 hours per week
30-day commitment requested; if by mutual decision it ends up being longer, lovely!
