Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Volunteer Board Member for a five-year term to contribute strategic oversight and governance to our organization. This role is ideal for senior leaders with a passion for community development, organizational growth, and impactful decision-making. The Volunteer Board Member will collaborate with fellow board members and executive leadership to guide the organization’s mission, ensure compliance, and foster sustainable development.
Duties
Provide strategic direction and oversight to align organizational goals with community needs
Participate actively in board meetings, committees, and organizational planning sessions
Assist in the development and review of policies, programs, and budgets
Engage in business development efforts to expand organizational reach and impact
Negotiate partnerships, sponsorships, and funding opportunities to support organizational initiatives
Lead or support projects aimed at process improvement and operational efficiency
Monitor organizational performance and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards
Foster relationships with stakeholders, community partners, and donors to enhance organizational visibility and credibility
Qualifications
Proven management experience with a background in strategic planning and operations management
Demonstrated leadership in senior roles within business, nonprofit, or community organizations
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build mutually beneficial partnerships
Experience in business development, project management, and process improvement initiatives
Ability to think critically about organizational strategy and governance issues
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
Prior board experience is preferred but not required; a commitment to the organization’s mission is essential
