VMC Machine Operator

JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: VMC Setter (Vertical Machining Center) Department: Production / Tool Room Location: Thirumalashettyhalli - 560067 Reports To: Production Supervisor / Tool Room Manager Employment Type: Full Time Job Purpose To independently perform machine setup, tool setting, and machining preparation on 3-axis / 4-axis VMC machines (Cosmos & STM make) equipped with Mitsubishi controllers, in a mixed tool room production environment. The role requires achieving close tolerances, high precision, and consistent quality while supporting efficient production operations. Key Roles & Responsibilities • Perform independent setup of VMC machines for new and repeat jobs. • Operate and handle Cosmos and STM VMC machines with Mitsubishi control systems. • Install and align fixtures, vises, and work holding devices accurately. • Conduct tool setting, tool length offset setting, and tool replacement. • Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and machining instructions. • Achieve close tolerance machining and precision component requirements. • Work in a mixed tool room operation handling multiple components and small batch production. • Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and machining parameters for different materials. • Monitor machine performance and make necessary offset adjustments. • Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, fixtures, machine parameters, and controller operations. Skills & Competencies Required • Strong knowledge of VMC machine setup and tool setting. • Hands-on experience with Mitsubishi CNC controllers. • Experience working on Cosmos / STM VMC machines is preferred. • Experience working in tool room / mixed production environment. • Ability to achieve close tolerances in precision machining. • Good understanding of CNC machining principles. • Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, feeds, and speeds. • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and tolerances. • Experience in fixture setup and work holding techniques. • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting ability. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Educational Qualification • ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification. Experience • 2 – 5 years of experience as a VMC Setter / CNC Setter. • Prior experience in tool room or mixed component machining operations is preferred. Salary • 4 LPA – 5.5 LPA
