Position Overview
The Vice President – Finance will be responsible for leading the overall finance function, ensuring strong financial controls, business profitability, compliance, working capital management, and strategic financial planning. The role requires a deep understanding of the freight forwarding and logistics industry and the ability to partner closely with business leaders to drive sustainable growth and operational efficiency.
This position will play a key role in shaping the organization's financial strategy while ensuring robust governance, compliance, and commercial support across all business verticals. Key Responsibilities Strategic Finance Leadership
Lead and oversee the organization's finance and accounting functions. Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives and growth plans. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on financial and commercial matters. Support mergers, acquisitions, business expansions, and strategic initiatives. Financial Planning & Analysis Drive annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes. Analyze business performance, profitability, and operational efficiency. Develop financial models and business cases for strategic investments. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve margins and profitability. Business Partnering Partner with Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Contract Logistics, Transportation, and other business units. Support commercial teams with pricing strategies, margin analysis, and customer profitability reviews. Drive a performance-oriented culture through financial accountability and transparency. Accounting & Financial Reporting Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Oversee financial reporting, management reporting, and MIS. Monitor key financial metrics and ensure accuracy of financial data. Lead month-end and year-end closing activities. Working Capital & Cash Flow Management Optimize cash flow and working capital across the organization. Drive collections, receivables management, and vendor payment strategies. Monitor liquidity requirements and treasury operations. Ensure healthy cash conversion cycles and financial discipline. Governance, Compliance & Risk Management Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial governance frameworks. Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and taxation requirements. Manage internal and external audits. Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks. Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing finance teams across locations. Build succession plans and strengthen organizational finance capabilities. Drive process improvement and finance transformation initiatives. Systems & Process Excellence Champion automation, digitalization, and ERP optimization initiatives. Strengthen financial reporting systems and management dashboards. Implement best practices in financial controls and operational efficiency. Mandatory Requirements Minimum 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience. Current or prior experience within Freight Forwarding, Logistics, Supply Chain, NVOCC, Shipping, or Transportation industry is mandatory. Proven experience leading finance functions for multi-location or large-scale organizations. Strong understanding of freight forwarding commercial models, revenue recognition, accruals, shipment profitability, customer billing, carrier settlements, and branch finance management. Experience managing profitability, working capital, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls. Demonstrated experience partnering with senior business leaders and executive management. Preferred Qualifications MBA (Finance), M. Com, CMA, CFA, or equivalent qualification preferred. Experience in multinational or globally operating logistics organizations. Exposure to ERP platforms and finance transformation initiatives. Experience managing international business operations and multi-country finance structures.
