Job Description
VP and Head of WC, DBA, A&H & Warranty Claims
Location: New York, NY Philadelphia, PA Alpharetta, GA Chicago, IL
Compensation: $250K–$300K base + annual bonus + comprehensive executive benefits
James Search Group is partnering with a leading global Property & Casualty insurer to identify a Head of Workers’ Compensation, DBA, Accident & Health, and Warranty Claims. This senior leadership role reports directly to the Global Chief Claims Officer and will play a key role in shaping the strategy, performance, and operational excellence of a major claims function within the organization.
This position will provide strategic direction across multiple casualty claims lines, ensuring claims are handled efficiently, fairly, and in alignment with regulatory and organizational standards. The role combines technical claims leadership, operational oversight, and strategic collaboration with underwriting, actuarial, legal, and executive stakeholders to support profitable growth and strong claims outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and strategic direction across Workers’ Compensation, DBA, A&H, and Warranty claims operations
• Establish and maintain best practices across claims handling, reserving philosophy, authority structures, and litigation management
• Provide technical oversight on complex and high-severity claims while ensuring strong governance and regulatory compliance
• Partner with underwriting, actuarial, legal, and operational leaders to support portfolio performance and effective risk management
• Drive continuous improvement across claims processes, technology adoption, and operational efficiency
• Represent the organization in key broker, client, regulatory, and industry interactions
• Deliver executive reporting and insights on claims trends, operational performance, and risk exposure
Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in Workers’ Compensation and/or DBA claims within the insurance industry
• Significant leadership experience managing claims operations and strategic initiatives
• Strong expertise in coverage interpretation, reserving philosophy, litigation management, and regulatory compliance
• Proven ability to lead organizational change, improve claims performance, and drive operational excellence
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Bachelor’s degree required; professional designations such as CPCU, AIC, or ARM preferred
