Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Varying Exceptionalities (VE) Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. In this role, you will create an inclusive and engaging learning environment tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with varying exceptionalities, including those with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, hearing impairments, and other special needs. Your expertise will help foster academic growth, social-emotional development, and independence for each student. Responsibilities
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that align with each student’s unique needs and goals
• Design and deliver differentiated lesson plans across core subjects such as literacy, math, and life skills, incorporating curriculum development best practices
• Employ evidence-based behavioral management techniques and behavioral therapy strategies to support positive behavior and social skills
• Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to support speech therapy, sensory integration, and communication development
• Conduct assessments using standardized testing methods to monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
• Manage classroom behavior effectively through proactive classroom management techniques, creating a safe and nurturing environment
• Provide early intervention services and support for preschool-aged children to promote childhood development milestones
• Maintain detailed records of student progress, IEP implementation, and behavioral data while ensuring compliance with educational standards
• Engage in ongoing professional development related to deaf education, working with individuals with autism, literacy education, tutoring, mentoring, and library services for resource enhancement
Skills
• Proven experience working with children with disabilities in classroom settings or specialized programs
• Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP processes, and behavioral health principles
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and external specialists
• Ability to develop engaging lesson plans tailored for early childhood education or preschool environments using Montessori or other child-centered approaches
• Proficiency in speech therapy techniques and behavioral therapy strategies to support communication and social-emotional growth
• Skilled in classroom management techniques that foster positive behavior management and inclusive learning environments
• Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and literacy education strategies for diverse learners
• Compassionate mentoring skills to support students’ social skills development and overall well-being
