Job Description
Pay Rate: $18.50 - $19.50 an hour
Open Shift: Monday through Friday 8am-2pm (30hrs)
Key Responsibilities
Transport participants to and from appointments, meetings, and activities as scheduled.
Assess and recommend improvements to transportation routes for efficiency.
Maintain cleanliness and conduct regular inspections of the van to ensure safety and operability.
Communicate any vehicle maintenance needs to the Program Director.
Ensure adherence to all safety and agency policies while operating the vehicle.
Build positive rapport with program participants while maintaining professional boundaries.
Collaborate with staff to ensure timely transportation scheduling.
Maintain accurate trip logs and documentation as required.
Respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected changes or emergencies during transport.
Represent MHA’s values of Respect, Integrity, and Compassion during all duties.
About the GRIT Program
The GRIT program at MHA provides residential rehabilitation for individuals with substance use challenges and co-occurring mental health conditions. Residents participate in individualized counseling, recovery-focused programming, and community activities such as education, job training, or employment, all within a structured and supportive environment. With locations in Springfield (men’s programs) and Holyoke (LGBTQIA+ program), GRIT combines the comforts of home with access to vital resources. A skilled, multidisciplinary team works closely with each resident to support recovery, personal growth, and long-term stability, while creating personalized aftercare plans for a successful return to the community.

Requirements
Valid driver's license, safe and reliable vehicle, and acceptable driving record preferred
High school diploma or GED required
At least 21 years of age
Experience driving a large passenger van required
Reliable and dependable with strong attendance and punctuality history
Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully in a professional environment
Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and compassion for individuals in recovery
Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification (training provided by MHA)
Experience following safety protocols strongly preferred
