Posting Details

The General Services Department (GSD) supports the operations of state government by providing essential services, including procurement, risk management, facilities management, transportation services, and printing services. The Aviation Services Bureau provides airplane transportation for state agencies, including the Health Department's Children's Medical Services. CMS serves children and adults under 21 with moderate to severe special health care needs.

The selected candidate will be compensated at a base rate of $52.54 per hour, plus a 28.108% Temporary Recruitment Differential. Salary is non-negotiable.

Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
Why does the job exist?

This position's primary function consists of operating GSD¿s aircraft, King Air C90GT and King Air 200 Series for the Aviation Services Bureau. The Pilot is responsible for piloting the state aircrafts to Airline Transport Standards, which include transporting people around the State of New Mexico and across the USA, along with maintaining the aircrafts to Textron and FAA Standards.
How does it get done?

The position will pilot the aircraft, navigate, file flight plans, check weather, weigh and balance calculations, wash the exterior and clean the interior of the aircraft.

The duties of this position include:
Schedule routine maintenance, troubleshooting problems as they arise, order parts, repair problems that can be done in the field and return the airplane to flight ready status.
Maintains all FAA required records and logbooks in accordance with established guidelines.
Ensure necessary certifications and training is in order to remain competent in the operation of the aircraft by attaining the highest level of proficiency, staying proficient with current Federal Aviation Administration regulations.
Maintain navigational manuals through up-to-date revisions.
Ensure that all state-owned aircrafts are properly maintained in accordance with FAA and aircraft manufacturer procedures.
Conducts and supervises all factory of FAA-required inspections.

Executive, Judicial, Legislative and Public-School agencies.
Ideal Candidate

Executive, Judicial, Legislative and Public-School agencies.
Minimum Qualification

The educational equivalent of an Associate's Degree in Aviation, Natural Resource Management or related degree in Aviation or Natural Resource Management, Commercial Pilot's License and at least two (2) years of experience piloting single and/or multi-engine fixed wing aircraft or helicopters and completion of 1,000 flight hours, not less than 200 hours of which must have been gained within the last two years. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements

Airline Transport Pilot License, Commercial Pilots Multi-Engine License
Must successfully pass a preemployment drug test and is subject to random drug testing.
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License
Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certification, once employed.
Working Conditions

The position will pilot the aircraft, navigate, file flight plans, check weather, weigh and balance calculations, wash the exterior and clean the interior of the aircraft. In addition, this position will schedule routine maintenance, trouble shoot problems as they arise, order parts, repair problems that can be done in the field and return the airplane to flight ready status. May need to work in inclement weather conditions. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Prolonged periods of standing, bending, twisting and walking. State travel is required.
