Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in special education, deaf or hard of hearing, or related field
Valid Alaskan Teacher Licensure, along with an endorsement of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching
Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education procedures
Familiarity with hearing technology, including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM/DM systems
Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with American Sign Language (ASL), Total Communication, Listening and Spoken Language, or other communication approaches as appropriate for students
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to pass all required background checks and district onboarding requirements

Travel package and relocation support for candidates interested in moving to the area
Provide direct special education services to students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing in accordance with IEPs
Develop and implement individualized instructional plans that support language, communication, academic achievement, and self-advocacy
Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, interpreters, and related service providers
Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, eligibility meetings, and progress reviews
Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom environments to ensure communication access
Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and complete required reports
