Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia ’ s future.

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a Training Lead – Defence Space Capability (SADL) to work on Space Surveillance and Deep Space Radar projects. While Adelaide-based resources are preferred, applications are welcome from anywhere in Australia.

What You’ll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

Lead coordination and communication activities across the project’s training scope for the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (SPA9360)
Provide expert advice to the Project Manager on the development, scheduling and delivery of training scope and milestones
Convert US ‑ provided training materials into ADF ‑ aligned SADL-compliant learning products
Manage Training Working Groups and engage key stakeholders, including US partners, 1 Space Surveillance Unit (1SSU) and Space Command
Identify, assess and manage training risks, providing mitigation strategies aligned with strategic intent

What You’ll Bring

Demonstrated proficiency and extensive experience applying the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL) framework within the ADF
Proven experience developing Defence training programs and associated SADL documentation
Background in Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment (CASG) and/or ILS environments
Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with international partners
Ability to analyse, evaluate and continuously improve specialist training solutions
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
