A bit about the role:
The role of a Civil Construction Apprentice is interesting, varied and provides staff with hands on experience and a broad understanding across all the types of Construction and Maintenance works that Council carries out on our vast network of roads. A major part of this role involves learning about workplace health and safety and the control of hazards identified on a construction site. You will obtain competencies in operating a variety of plant and machinery.
In a trainee, we look for:
Someone that enjoys working outside
A level of fitness to undertake manual activities
Dedication and reliability
Passion for improving our regions infrastructure
Good organisation skills and attention to detail
Ability to work as part of a team
What you can learn:
Read, interpret and set up Traffic Control Plans
Assist in the delivery of concrete works, roadworks and signage installation
Develop skills in the use and maintenance of small plant and hand tools
Understanding of WHS and PPE requirements
How to manage your time and priorities
A Civil Construction traineeship is full time employment for three (3) years and the proposed study will be a Certificate III in Civil Construction.
