Job Description
We are an early-stage consumer product startup looking for a highly creative designer to help shape the visual identity and emotional appeal of a new interactive consumer product.
We are looking specifically for someone who excels at:
character creation,
toy aesthetics,
emotional design,
and visually memorable product concepts.
This role is focused entirely on the physical and emotional design language of the product, not engineering or technical implementation.

We are looking for a designer who understands how to create products that feel:
lovable,
comforting,
expressive,

and emotionally engaging.
The ideal candidate should have strong instincts around:
shape language,
silhouette design,
facial expressions,
proportions,
color palettes,
and tactile visual appeal.
This role is centered around creating a product people emotionally connect with — especially children and families.

Responsibilities
Character & Toy Design
Design original toy/character concepts
Explore multiple visual directions and personalities
Create unique, ownable product identity

Emotional Design Language
Design expressive facial features and emotional cues
Create visually warm and approachable character styles
Develop interaction-inspired poses and personalities
---
Visual Exploration
Create sketches, renders, moodboards, and concept explorations
Experiment with body proportions, posture, and visual appeal
Help define the overall visual personality of the product
---
Material & Aesthetic Direction
Suggest textures, softness, finishes, and visual styling
Contribute to premium-feel and giftability direction
Help shape packaging and presentation aesthetics
---
Ideal Candidate
Required
Strong portfolio in toy, mascot, collectible, plush, or character design
Strong understanding of emotional and child-friendly design
Ability to quickly sketch and iterate concepts
Excellent visual storytelling skills
Preferred
Experience designing products for children or families
Background in animation, plush products, gaming mascots, or collectibles
Strong understanding of expressive and memorable character creation
