What to Expect
We are seeking a highly motivated hands-on Engineer based in Reno, Nevada to support the Energy Production Engineering group. The individual will focus on creating robust, beautiful, data centric production testing equipment. The individual will be responsible for mechanical, electrical, software, and controls of dense reliable testing equipment for our Powerwall 3 and Optimus Production lines. This individual would support the team with equipment validation, commissioning, continuous improvement and troubleshooting support.
What You'll Do
Troubleshoot test equipment which includes low and high-power electrical panels, mechanical fixtures with robotic, servo, pneumatic operations, and fluid systems
Troubleshoot product to identify and root cause issues which include electrical components, firmware, and software
Collaborate with Software/Hardware Engineering and external Test Engineering teams to execute on equipment, test, and product improvements
Ability to review electrical schematics and trace issues, and update schematics
Perform equipment upgrades as needed (electrical and software), update documentation, and train various personnel (operators, technicians, engineers)
Debug and optimize processes to minimize cycle time and maximize uptime
Characterize and validate equipment using data-driven statistical approaches (Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility test, Cpk, etc.)
Participate in design reviews for manufacturing test equipment
Lead equipment commissioning, validation, and integration with production lines
What You'll Bring
Degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent work experience
Experience in troubleshooting and commissioning test equipment, and root causing tester vs product issues. Experience in working with various testers including EOL, functional, and burn-in
Ability to use oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers and other electrical test instruments to support troubleshooting
Experience working with and debugging common communication protocols: CAN, Ethernet, GPIB, etc.
Experience with software version-control using one of the following tools: SVN, Git, or GitHub
