Job Description
Who we are:
With over 30 suburbs spanning 158.1 km2 and home to 148,000 people, the City of Salisbury is the second most populated local government in metropolitan Adelaide and the fourth largest local government, making it one of the most significant Council areas in South Australia.
The Role:
The Team Member Biodiversity & Native Landscape role supports Council's biodiversity and native landscape maintenance operations through a broad range of park management activities across designated sites. This includes tasks such as grass cutting, plant identification, chemical application, pest and weed control, tree planting, track maintenance and the upkeep of parks, landscapes and escarpment areas. Duties are varied and responsive to seasonal demands, with all work undertaken using plant and equipment in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. The role ensures services are delivered to required specifications, maintaining areas in a safe condition, while contributing positively to team outcomes through following direction, working collaboratively, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to Council policies and procedures.
Key Responsibility
Biodiversity & native landscape maintenance duties.
Appropriate competencies/licenses are required for chemical application and equipment use.
Carry out work activities as planned & directed.
Complete work programs to standard in the most cost effective and safe manner possible.
Assist other Service Units or Departments as required utilizing plant, equipment and staff as necessary.
Utilization of hand tools and all safety equipment when working with equipment, machinery or materials.
Maintain equipment in a clean, safe and serviceable condition in accordance with the recommended operating practices.
Undertaking operational duties as required that may include operation of other plant or equipment where suitably licensed and experienced.
Skill & Competencies:
Certificate III or equivalent in Horticulture, Conservation & Land Management, or equivalent.
Current C Class unrestricted license
Competency in parks and landscape maintenance-related task and equipment
