Job Overview
Lil Saints Early Learning Center is seeking to hire passionate, nurturing, and experienced Level 1, 2 or 3 educators to join the team as Teacher Assistants. The Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in all aspects of classroom operations. This role helps create a safe, engaging, organized, and faith-centered learning environment for children. The Teacher Assistant assists with classroom management, curriculum implementation, preparation, cleaning, administration, and supervision of children. They actively participate in programming, model positive behaviour, and contribute to a nurturing environment that supports children's development, well-being, and spiritual growth.
Responsibilities
Support the Lead Teacher in delivering a safe, engaging, developmentally appropriate, and faith-based program, including group activities, center time, free play, music, and gross motor activities.
Actively engage and supervise children, encouraging positive behaviour, problem-solving skills, and social development.
Assist with classroom management, daily routines, transitions, and conflict resolution in a loving and consistent manner.
Support health and safety practices, including hygiene routines, allergy protocols, and emergency procedures.
Assist with classroom preparation and program planning, including setting up learning spaces, preparing materials, crafts, and lesson supports.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment, including toy cleaning, laundry, and classroom upkeep.
Provide administrative support such as attendance tracking, maintaining child records, and assisting with assessments.
Communicate and collaborate with the Lead Teacher, staff, and families as required.
Step in to lead the classroom in the absence of the Lead Teacher, as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years experience working with children in a classroom, childcare, ministry, or educational setting preferred.
Understanding of child development and age-appropriate practices.
Ability to support classroom routines, safety practices, and structured programming.
Commitment to modeling Christian values and supporting faith-based programming.
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
Physically able to participate in classroom activities, cleaning tasks, and active play.
Clear vulnerable sector check and level 1, 2, or 3 child-care certification or equivalent certification.
Experience with Brightwheel or similar childcare management platforms would be considered an asset.
Pay: $18.29-$31.68 per hour
