Tax Staff Accountant (Public Accounting) JOB SUMMARY:
We are currently looking for an Onsite Tax Staff Accountant for our client, Stewart & Company in Virginia Beach, VA. The client is open to candidates willing to relocate and will provide relocation assistance.
Pay is $50K - $85K + Bonus + Profit Sharing + Yearly Pay increases
• Health, Dental & Vision plans (Firm pays $300/mo towards firm-sponsored plans)
• 401K 100% match up to 3%, 50% match up to 5%
• Hardware provided (computer, office supplies, and more)
• You will be expected to travel to the office a few times a year, including a 1-2 week training period upon hire.
• Flexible summer hours
• Other incentives included, but are not limited to, PTO, Paternity/Maternity leave.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• 1-3 years of Tax Experience
• 1-3 years of Public accounting experience at a public accounting firm
• Consults with manager to develop a basic understanding of their financial affairs and the scope of their tax liabilities.
• Review all supplied financial information for accuracy.
• Uses the appropriate accounting software or system to prepare tax returns.
• Calculates taxes owed or refunds due to clients, consults tax law publications for guidance on unusual situations.
• Submits tax returns for review.
• Maintains understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law by reading professional literature or attending tax seminars and training courses.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
1040 TAX EXPECTED HOURS:
• Tax season hours are approximately 55 per week, however, is subject to change as needed.
• Tax season is defined as January 16 through April 15 and September 1 through October 15.
• Core hours for tax season are 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
• Saturdays during tax season may be required.
1040 TAX EDUCATION
• High school diploma or equivalent with some training in accounting required.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree or 1040 or other tax preparation training required.
