He angitūtanga: The opportunity


Auckland Council’s Policy department has an opportunity for a Strategic Advisor to join the Strategic Advice team.


This is a critical role for the Council and will focus on the Auckland Plan 2050 which sets a 30-year direction for Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland to ensure we can meet the opportunities and challenges of the future.


You could expect to work on:


monitoring progress of the Auckland Plan 2050
horizon and environmental scanning to identify drivers of change
collecting and analysing data and information to support advice to decision-makers
identifying consultation opportunities in relation to central government reform
keeping information produced by the team accessible and up-to-date

He kōrero mōu: About you


This role requires experience in the public policy, economics, or resource management space or a related discipline. You have experience in similar roles within large, complex, or political organisations.


We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements:


critical thinking and problem-solving skills
ability to build relationships and work collaboratively
ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines, with attention to detail
strong written and oral communication skills
appreciation of the local government environment
