Role Overview:
You will be a Staff Software Engineer at PayPalWorld, responsible for building next-generation client-facing portals that enhance the discovery, integration, and testing processes on the platform. Your focus will be on developing intelligent, AI-assisted web experiences using conversational interfaces, secure backend orchestration, and modern cloud technologies to ensure seamless client integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a project or system leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers and determining their technical tasks
- Achieve customer, operational, program, or service objectives through proactive improvements in structures and processes
- Exercise judgment to identify optimal solutions to problems and collaborate with management to set/improve engineering standards
- Represent PayPal, Inc externally through interactions with partners, customers, or industry organizations
- Analyze requirements and transform them into scalable software designs with strong analytical skills
- Advocate for code craftsmanship, good coding standards, and tools to improve code quality
- Define and execute backend technology strategy, driving innovation and collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Design and optimize core systems that power millions of transactions daily, impacting customer experiences and company success
Qualifications Required:
- 5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 8+ years of backend development experience and a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- Proficiency in at least one backend language, such as Java
- Expertise in architecting and developing large-scale backend systems with a focus on cloud-native solutions, microservices, and serverless architectures
- Leadership experience in designing fault-tolerant systems with high availability and disaster recovery
- Deep expertise in backend technologies, Java EE, Spring MVC, and Hibernate
- Ability to influence and mentor engineering teams, drive technical roadmaps, and ensure alignment with business objectives
