About the Role
The Commercial Officer assists in all aspects of contract management, using project, finance, and commercial management skills.
This includes guiding, influencing, and advising stakeholders to successfully deliver contractual obligations and achieve business objectives.
The role requires developing innovative solutions to complex problems related to risk management, commercial performance, and contractor management.
Strong formal and informal networks will be built both internally and externally to achieve successful outcomes for DTP, Government, and the Community.
A key responsibility is managing and mitigating risk (safety, environmental, scope, financial, time, and reputational) in accordance with the DTP Risk Framework during contract administration and management.
The Commercial Officer will act as a proactive member of the commercial team, ensuring the team is highly motivated, proactive, and forward-thinking.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
You will be a driven and adaptable professional who brings strong business and commercial acumen, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of operational costs and a commitment to efficiency, ensuring external vendor agreements are clear and parties are held accountable.
The role involves defining and coordinating tasks to meet project outcomes, proactively managing progress, and taking corrective actions as needed.
Excellent influencing and persuasion abilities will be required to tailor communication style to diverse audiences and present complex information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Stakeholder management expertise will ensure adding value to clients, addressing their concerns, and maintaining strong relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Mandatory Qualifications in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Project Management, or related field experience.
Experience working with performance-based contracts is also essential.
Additionally, experience in finance and analytical reports is desirable.
