Job Description
Job title: Senior Database Administrator
Organization: A US based Energy Company
Location: Chandigarh or Ahmedabad
Experience: 5+ years
Salary: 8,00,000 – 12,00,000 per annum with additional bonus and benefits
About the Role: The ideal candidate will have the responsibility of designing, developing, administrating, monitoring, and troubleshooting databases. This role with other team members is to ensure 100% uptime, plan future capacity requirements, maintain security, and apply updates.
Responsibilities
• Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user’s specialised role
• Design and implement database in accordance to end users information needs and views
• Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner
• Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
• Minimise database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
• Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
• Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
• Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
• Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
Candidate Requirements
• Experience with data modelling for both operational and analytical datastores
• Experience with Windows Server environments and Microsoft SQL Server database technologies
• Good experience in configuring and using SQL Server Always on Availability
• Experience with DevOps, SSRS, SSIS, SSMA and Redgate SQL tools
• Experience with data lake concepts and strong understanding of data design patterns culminating into microservices development
• Experience in developing Data Pipelines to support near-real-time and event-driven messaging and data processing
• Experience in handling in memory and high-volume data processing through concurrency and multithreading techniques to build scalable, performant and resilient applications
• Knowledge of building on the Public Cloud (preferably Azure or GCP)
• Familiarity with data platforms such as Snowflake, PostgreSQL and Redis
• Familiarity with modern opensource ETL/ELT and orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory or Airflow
Skills & Qualifications
• Proven five or more years of working experience as a Database Administrator
• Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications
• Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL
• Expertise in database design, documentation, and coding
• Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third-party tools
• Familiarity with programming languages API
• Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically
• Bachelor’s degree in a computer discipline and relevant certification for database management
