Sports Content Creator
Job Description
Next Up Studios is an Edmonton-based sports media company built to tell athlete and team stories across every sport. We attend games, tournaments, and events to capture content that puts athletes and organizations on the map. We are the media division of Next Up Hoops, one of Edmonton's premier basketball clubs, and we are expanding to serve sports organizations across Alberta and beyond.
We create everything — game highlights and player mixtapes, long form vlogs, live streams, and social media content across Instagram, YouTube, and Twitch.
The Role
We are looking for a driven and creative Sports Content Creator to join our team. You will attend live sporting events, capture the best moments on camera, edit your own footage, produce vlog style content, and contribute to live stream productions — all under one role.
This is a permanent part-time role with strong potential to grow into a full-time position as the company expands.
What You Will Do
Attend games, tournaments, and sporting events in Edmonton and surrounding areas
Film gameplay, player moments, bench reactions, warmups, and behind the scenes content
Edit your own footage into reels, highlight clips, player mixtapes, and social media posts for Instagram
Produce and edit vlog style video content for YouTube
Assist with live stream productions on Twitch including setup, operation, and monitoring
Deliver finished content within 24-48 hours of each event
Contribute ideas to the creative direction of Next Up Studios content across all platforms
Occasionally assist with graphics, thumbnails, and other visual assets
What We Are Looking For
You shoot AND edit — this is an all-in-one role, not separate
Comfortable producing across multiple formats — short form social content, long form vlogs, and live streams
Strong storytelling instinct — you make people care about a team or player they have never heard of
Fast turnaround — you can deliver polished content within 48 hours without being chased
Self-directed — you know what shots to get without being micromanaged at every moment
Adaptable across multiple sports — basketball, soccer, hockey, volleyball, and more
Comfortable working in fast-paced live event environments
Must be able to travel occasionally when required — travel destinations may include locations across Canada and the United States. All travel and accommodation will be covered by Next Up Studios.
Reliable transportation to get to events across Edmonton and surrounding areas
Graphic design skills are a bonus (Canva, Photoshop, Premiere, etc.)
Experience with live streaming software is a bonus
What We Offer
$18-$25/hr based on experience — candidates with their own professional equipment and reliable transportation will be considered at the higher end of the range
Permanent part-time schedule with flexibility built around your life
Consistent work across multiple sports and organizations
Real portfolio building — you will have a library of professional sports content across Instagram, YouTube, and Twitch
Creative freedom — we want storytellers, not just camera operators
A team that genuinely loves sports and content creation
