Job Overview
Growing Charter School Systems is seeking a certified Special Education Director to lead and oversee our special education programs. Strong preference for candidates with experience in bilingual (Spanish/English) or ESL support.
You will be responsible for managing and implementing the school’s special education services in compliance with state and federal requirements. It will be fundamental to provide guidance and support to students, families, and staff, ensuring that every child receives an equitable and meaningful educational experience.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about special education, committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, and skilled at building strong relationships with students, parents, and staff. They will know how to organize programs, provide effective support, and make learning accessible, engaging, and personalized for every student. The goal is to cultivate students’ growth, independence, and love for learning while being a dedicated leader and advocate for the entire special education community.
Responsibilities
Oversee the implementation and compliance of all special education programs and services
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and stakeholders to develop and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to special education staff
Assess student progress and program effectiveness; provide feedback and recommendations
Ensure classrooms, resources, and programs meet safety and accessibility standards
Lead and participate in school meetings, committees, and events related to special education
Observe and address student needs, behavior, and well-being; report concerns of neglect, abuse, or compliance issues
Develop and enrich professional knowledge by attending seminars, conferences, and trainings
Skills and Qualifications
Texas Special Education Certification required
Proven experience in special education leadership and administration
Thorough knowledge of special education best practices, legal requirements, and school policies
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership abilities
Creative, energetic, and student-centered approach
Strong ethical values, integrity, and commitment to inclusive education
Knowledge of CPR and relevant safety procedures
Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or related field
