The Role
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to join a complex delivery environment in Canberra. In this role, you will lead the scoping and design of complex technical solutions, working closely with business and delivery teams to translate requirements into structured, governed artefacts.
You will take ownership of High Level Designs (HLDs) and ensure solutions are clearly defined, aligned to business needs, and ready to support current and future program phases. This role requires strong engagement across stakeholders and the ability to balance delivery pragmatism with architectural rigour.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the scoping and design of complex technical solutions across program initiatives
Capture and translate business requirements into technical requirements, user stories, and design artefacts
Produce and own High Level Designs (HLDs) to support delivery and future program phases
Maintain traceability between business requirements and technical solutions (e.g. RTMs)
Work closely with delivery teams to ensure solution designs are understood and implemented effectively
Collaborate with stakeholders to align solutions with business objectives and constraints
Participate in architecture and governance forums, supporting design reviews and approvals
Identify risks, dependencies, and design considerations across solution architectures
Support continuous improvement in architecture standards, documentation, and delivery practices
What You’ll Need
Proven experience as a Solution Architect delivering complex technical solutions
Strong experience scoping and shaping technical deliveries in enterprise environments
Demonstrated ability to capture business requirements and translate them into structured, governed artefacts
Hands-on experience producing HLDs, technical requirements, user stories, and traceability artefacts (e.g. RTM)
Strong understanding of end-to-end solution design and delivery lifecycles
Ability to work across business and technical stakeholders to drive clarity and alignment
Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly
Experience working in regulated or complex environments is highly desirable
Ability to balance architectural quality with delivery timelines and constraints
