Software Testing - Internship
Job Description
About the internship:
You will own quality for our customer-facing software mobile app, website, and cloud flows, and contribute small, well-scoped development fixes and test automation. You work closely with firmware and hardware when validating BLE provisioning, device onboarding, alerts, and end-to-end scenarios on real ESP32 hardware.
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Test software (primary ~60-70%)
2. Plan and execute manual test cases for Flutter (iOS/Android) and Next.js flows: signup, device pairing, dashboards, subscriptions, checkout (e.g. Razorpay), and help/docs.
3. Run regression before releases; maintain test checklists and bug reports with clear repro steps, logs, and screenshots.
4. Test IoT-specific paths: BLE discovery/setup, firmware sync/OTA, offline/reconnect behavior, multi-device homes, alerts and automations against staging AWS APIs.
5. Validate API contracts (device, hardware catalog, subscriptions) using Postman or similar; flag breaking changes early.
6. Perform exploratory testing on real devices (ESP32-C6 controllers, level monitors, motor controllers) in lab conditions.
7. Track defects in your issue tracker; verify fixes and close the loop with developers.
8. Development (secondary ~30-40%)
9. Fix UI bugs, copy issues, and minor logic defects in Flutter or TypeScript when assigned.
10. Add or extend automated tests (widget/integration tests in Flutter; Playwright or Jest on web where applicable).
11. Improve developer tooling: test data scripts, mock devices, CI smoke checks.
12. Document test procedures and known device quirks for the team.
