Social Media Manager & Content Producer — Personal Brand (Toronto, Hybrid)
Job Description
Location:Toronto / GTA — in-person, on-site shoots required
Type: Independent contractor
Industry:Lifestyle, fashion, beauty, travel
About the role
A lifestyle and travel creator with an established, high-reach Instagram account is hiring one person to own the content operation end to end.
The account already generates significant reach. The mandate for this role is audience growth and revenue, and performance is measured against both.
This is a combined strategy and production role. You develop the content, direct and film it on location, brief the editors, publish it, and track what worked. You are not a camera operator executing someone else's plan, and there is no content lead above you.
Responsibilities
Content strategy
Own the content plan: positioning, formats, cadence, and growth targets
Set the publishing volume. There is no fixed quota — you determine what output produces the best results and justify it with data
Test single ideas across multiple formats rather than committing to one execution
Track performance per piece and apply the findings to the next cycle
Writing
Scripts, hooks, voiceovers, and captions
Recurring series and repeatable formats
Production
Plan and organize shoots: locations, shot lists, references, scheduling
Film on location using iPhone
Direct the creator on camera: delivery, posture, styling in frame, composition
Adjust the plan live during shoots and confirm coverage before wrapping
Publishing and community
Brief and manage editors; own final output quality
Schedule, publish, and manage the accounts daily
Community management and inbound message handling
Monetization
Build partnership assets: media kit, rate card, outreach lists
Manage inbound brand inquiries
Position digital products and guides within the content so they convert
Deliver branded content to spec and report on performance
Requirements
Based in Toronto or the GTA with reliable transportation. This role requires regular in-person attendance and cannot be performed remotely.
Native-level written and spoken English. All content is produced in English for North American and Western European audiences.
Demonstrated growth of a personal or expert-led social account, supported by figures: starting audience, ending audience, and timeframe.
Demonstrated monetization of that account, with a clear account of your role in it.
Strong iPhone filming skills, with command of framing, lighting, and composition. Professional camera experience is not required.
Experience directing an individual on camera.
Ability to brief and manage editors, or edit independently.
Self-directed and accountable for outcomes without supervision.
Assets
Experience with lifestyle, fashion, beauty, or travel accounts
Experience producing sponsored or branded content
Photography skills
Familiarity with brand partnership deliverables and reporting
What we offer
Hourly compensation for all tracked work, including planning, scripting, shoots, and account management
A monthly performance bonus tied to audience growth targets, set jointly in advance and calibrated to be achievable
A percentage of all revenue generated by the account, including brand partnerships, sponsored content, digital products, guides, and subscriptions
Full ownership of the content direction, with no layer of approvals above you
An account with existing distribution and unrealized commercial potential, rather than a launch from zero
Compensation figures are discussed with shortlisted candidates.
Application requirements
Submit the following.
Links to personal or expert-led accounts you have grown, with audience figures and timeframes
A description of how those accounts were monetized and your specific contribution
Examples of content you filmed
Examples of content you edited or directed edits on
