We are looking for a Social Communication Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team in Chelmsford. This role involves supporting pupils with social communication challenges, helping them to develop the skills needed to thrive in mainstream learning environments. You will provide tailored interventions and work alongside teachers and external professionals to address specific needs, creating an inclusive and positive classroom atmosphere.
This contract is initially for 12 months, with potential for permanency, offering stability and professional growth. The school provides ongoing CPD, including specialist training in social communication and Autism, and opportunities for overtime in extra-curricular activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide targeted support for children with social communication needs.
• Implement and adapt individualised learning plans.
• Facilitate small group and 1:1 interventions to promote social skills.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage their participation.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and specialists to monitor progress.
• Promote an inclusive classroom culture and a positive learning environment.
Qualifications And Experience
• Maths and English Grades A-C (or equivalent).
• Experience working with children with social communication challenges or Autism is desirable.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
