Description
Seeking a highly skilled Snowflake Database Application Architect with experience in database design, architecture, cloud services, and data warehousing. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing the implementation of Snowflake solutions within the Corporate business line. Initial implementation and designs will focusing on database designs for use by PowerBI, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.
Responsibilities
• Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and translate them into effective database designs and data models.
• Optimize database performance through indexing, partitioning, and other best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, providing technical support to end-users as needed.
• Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal policies and procedures.
• Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for review.
• Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.
• Monitor the system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new features.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending and implementing improvements to existing systems and processes.
• Educate staff members through training and individual support.
Qualifications
• Minimum 10 years experience of working with Databases and 2 years with Snowflake
• Proven experience as a Snowflake database architect. In an analytics environment.
• Expertise in Snowflake data modelling techniques, including dimensional modelling and normalization In-depth understanding of data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security and monitoring).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• An ability to understand front-end users' requirements and a problem-solving attitude.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Advantages include certifications in Snowflake Cloud Data Platform, strong familiarity with PowerBI for analytics & visualizations and strong familiarity with Azure.
• Good understanding of infrastructure layers (networking, information security, database, etc. ) and ability to work with respective infrastructure teams, DevOps and app development teams to help structure high performing, cost effective solutions.
• Education in computer Science, information systems or a related field.
