Sheetmetal Trades Workers
Job Description
We are seeking experienced Sheetmetal Trades Workers to support fabrication, welding, mechanical services, and on-site installation work across commercial and industrial projects. This role involves interpreting drawings, preparing materials, fabricating components, assembling metal products, and installing finished systems on-site.
Key responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements
Select, inspect, clean, and prepare metal stock (e.g. stainless steel, mild steel, galvanised steel, aluminium, copper)
Measure and mark out materials and cut using hand tools, power tools, and machinery (e.g. guillotines, drills, cutting torches, CNC or laser equipment)
Heat, shape, and form metal using presses, folders, rollers, hammers, and furnaces
Assemble and fit components; join metals by welding, brazing, soldering, riveting, bolting, or screwing
Inspect weld quality and finish products by grinding, sanding, polishing, and cleaning
Apply protective and decorative finishes where required
Install ductwork and associated fittings such as grilles, dampers, and fans
Operate and maintain tools and equipment safely and in accordance with site and company health & safety requirements
What we’re looking for
At least three years’ experience as a Sheetmetal Trades Worker in fabrication and/or installation
Ability to read drawings and work accurately to specifications and measurements
Competency with relevant fabrication tools and equipment
Welding experience relevant to sheet metal work
Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
A minimum of 30 hours per week
These roles require workers to be available for work in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke’s Bay, Manawatū-Whanganui, Wellington, Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Northland, Gisborne, Taranaki, and Southland. When workers are required to travel, appropriate travel and accommodation expenses will be provided.
