A longstanding supplier of high precision machines requires a Service Engineer to attend customer sites for the installation of new and preowned machines. The ideal candidate will be qualified in mechanical with a good level of electrical competency.
Location: Telford, Wolverhampton, Stoke, Stafford, Birmingham, Coventry, Kidderminster, Worcester
Package: £38,000 - £45,000 p.a. D.O.E. + choice of a company van, car or truck + 5% match pension + overtime on weekends + fully expensed fuel for business and personal use within reason.
Suitable for: Service Technician, Mechanical Engineer, Service Engineer, Installation Engineer
The Role
Reporting into the Service Manager you will have the following duties:
Install, commission, and test new press machinery at customer locations.
Retrofit and upgrade older press machinery to enhance performance and efficiency.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in machinery.
Conduct routine maintenance and servicing of installed machines.
Provide technical support and training to customers on machine operation and maintenance.
Collaborate with internal teams, including sales and engineering, to ensure seamless service delivery.
Maintain accurate records of service activities, reports, and customer interactions.
Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations while working on machinery.
Travel to customer sites as required (domestic and/or international travel may be necessary).
The Person
Educated to a minimum of City & Guilds in Mechanical, you will have the following experience:
Proven experience as a Service Engineer, Field Technician, or in a similar role within the press machinery or manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
Hands-on experience with PLC programming and automation systems (preferred but not essential).
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Willingness to travel frequently and work flexible hours when needed.
Valid driver's license and ability to work at various customer sites.
