Job Description
An SEO Strategist at Whitespark is a member of our SEO Services Team and works directly with clients to optimize their websites.
We are looking to hire someone with the following knowledge and skills:
Basic SEO Knowledge (keyword research, title tags + meta descriptions, understanding crawling + indexing, basic onpage optimization)
English writing/content creation/copywriting
Client communication/account management
Wordpress experience (other CMS experience is a plus)
Analytics/Search Console/Tag Manager
Technical SEO knowledge
A significant part of the day-to-day work is identifying content gaps, researching topics, and writing content. Excellent English writing and communication skills are key factors we will be evaluating in the hiring process.
A successful SEO Strategist consistently provides the best customer experience, guiding their clients with thoughtful and helpful communication. They’re comfortable providing clear and jargonless updates to clients via email, video chat or call. They are driven by results and get great satisfaction from helping businesses improve their online presence.
The SEO Strategist has the opportunity to initiate improvements to existing processes and develop new services at Whitespark. This person contributes to the culture at Whitespark and looks for opportunities to support their coworkers on the SEO Services Team.
Responsibilities
Work directly with clients on on-site local SEO and Google Business Profile optimization.
Perform technical SEO audits of websites.
Content research, writing, and publishing.
Manage and track client tasks, completing tasks efficiently and on schedule.
Prepare, interpret and communicate monthly reports and ongoing project wins to clients.
Collaborate with the team to improve our service and processes.
Requirements
Proven experience developing and executing successful local SEO strategies.
Proven experience writing high-quality, high-converting content that ranks well.
Advanced skills optimizing websites built with WordPress.
Can set up, use, and gain insights from Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager.
Bonus Skills
Experience with SquareSpace, Wix and other popular CMSs.
Experience with Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, and other common SEO tools.
Experience with Google Ads.
Work Location
Whitespark is a fully remote company with no office space. While we will consider applicants from anywhere in Canada, we strongly prefer hiring in the Edmonton, Alberta, region to facilitate monthly in-person team days, team-building events, and holiday parties.
