This is a leadership role and the candidate’s core responsibilities are as follows:
• Deliver and/or lead multiple, often complex, design projects from concept through to site whilst adhering to design briefs, timelines, and budgets.
• Work with and manage teams internally and externally to develop design briefs & strategies.
• Project manage multiple projects including budgets, programming, risks, and resources both internal & external.
• Produce, supervise, and deliver designs, drawings, schedules, guidelines, and specifications a strategy, design concept, design development, tender and construction stages. This will involve the following activities:
• Information and wayfinding strategies.
• Graphic communication strategies.
• Wayfinding layouts coordinated with the design team for required services.
• Sign prototyping drawings & templates.
• Detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ) along with estimates.
• Vendor selection, shop drawing & sample approvals.
• Production ready artworks.
• Shop drawing approvals.
• Site supervision.
• Quality & design review.
• Prepare and deliver design presentations, pitches & company profile.
• Develop vendors and product/process samples for use in current and future projects.
• Keep up to date with applicable laws that effect/influence our work.
• Be responsible for the status and realization of your design projects including organizing and managing your colleagues and undertaking regular design/project reviews, to meet budget and program requirements, as well as ensure full compliance with the project requirements and office standards.
• Comply with all relevant office standards and industry professional development attributes, as available, and propose improvements as appropriate.
• Regularly report to the senior management and Directors on the status of your projects to assess their impact upon the overall company resourcing and finances.
Qualifications
• Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Communication Design, or a related discipline, with strong design fundamentals.
• 6+ years professional experience in sign design, wayfinding design, print/digital design, working in sign production companies or similar studio experience, willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, project-based setting is essential.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design and visualization tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, CAD software, presentation tools such as PowerPoint or Keynote).
• Ability to conduct design and material research, translate insights into concepts, and develop clear design documentation and presentations.
• Strong visual communication, layout, and typography skills, with attention to detail and consistency across design deliverables.
• Collaborative working style, with the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with clients and project partners.
• Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records and files.
• Interest in wayfinding, signage systems, and spatial design; familiarity with sustainability concepts (e.g., LEED, IGBC) is an advantage.
