Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Group Tax Accountant to join our Group Finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Tax.
This is a critical role acting as an in-house taxation specialist across income tax, GST, FBT, transfer pricing and tax-effect accounting, supporting compliance, governance and strategic decision-making across the Bapcor Group.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring the integrity and timeliness of tax reporting, while also contributing to process improvements, business growth initiatives and acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate Australian tax compliance, including income tax returns, BAS/GST, FBT and transfer pricing filings
Support international tax compliance across New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand
Prepare tax-effect accounting (IAS 12) for half-year and year-end reporting
Assist with tax reporting disclosures, including the annual Tax Transparency Report
Provide tax advice to Finance, Commercial teams and Group functions
Support tax governance, controls testing and risk management in line with the Tax Governance Framework
Monitor and interpret tax legislation changes and provide practical guidance to the business
Assist with ATO reviews, audits, and support M&A activities, including integration and process improvements
Qualifications
You’re a technically strong and commercially aware tax professional who thrives in a complex, fast-paced environment.
You will bring:
CA/CPA qualification and a degree in Accounting, Commerce or Law
4 to 5+ years’ experience in corporate tax
Strong knowledge of Australian tax such as income tax, GST, FBT and transfer pricing
Experience with tax-effect accounting (IAS 12) – highly desired
Exposure to ATO reviews and tax governance frameworks
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with large ERP systems (HFM/Oracle highly regarded)
Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills
A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
