The purpose of the Data and Performance Insights Directorate to provide Police with the data and performance insights it needs to be successful. We provide performance thought leadership to enable accountability and improvement in police practice and outcomes and identify areas of improvement to enable organisational learning and decision making.

As a Senior / Advisor Performance and Insights, you will be supporting Police in the development and delivery of the way we create and deliver insights and performance reporting to Police decision makers. You'll provide performance advice across different areas of Police, with a core focus of proactively providing quality performance insights to the organisation. You'll have a passion for using performance information to assess and improve service delivery.

You will join a high performing team providing Police with the insights that it needs to be successful, and you will add value by providing relevant, timely data insights, innovating new solutions, and communicating these to a range of audiences.

Appointment to a Senior Performance and Insights Advisor will be on the basis of skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the job requirements. Applicants will be assessed for both vacancies.

Key Accountabilities:

Provide robust, data-driven performance advice across a range of areas within NZ Police.
Develop deep insights into areas of Police performance and identify opportunities for performance improvement.
Contribute to ongoing development and refinement of performance reporting practices.
Prepare and present clear and concise analysis on varied complex issues and in formats suitable for a variety of audiences, including at Senior levels and non-technical audiences.
Engage with Senior Police Managers on performance delivery and guide / advise them on performance issues and improvement opportunities.

To be successful in this role you will require the following:

Demonstrated experience as a Performance Analyst, Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or Performance Advisor - or similar type roles.
A service-oriented mindset, with the ability to operate, contribute, and influence at a senior level to drive performance improvement in a large and diverse organisation.
Ability to create innovative ideas and solutions, including the ability to anticipate organisational performance information needs.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all levels.
Confidently and effectively deliver informative presentations face-to-face.
Experience building and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Analytical skills with the ability to draw insight and interpretation from a wide variety of materials.
Confident use of Business Intelligence - using a range of business intelligence, data extraction, and data visualisation tools is an advantage, such as SAP Business Objects, SAS Visual Analytics, PowerBI and MS Excel.

This role can be based in various locations. Some travel may be required.
A relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant field is required.

These positions are covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence within the following range dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role:

Senior Advisor (Band I): $102,808 and $108,894
Advisor (Band H): $95,057 and $100,626
