Job Description
The Legal Advice and Strategy team at Comcare is a highly skilled legal team that provides expert advice on various aspects of legislation, including the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act), the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1+88 (the SRC Act), and other public sector related legislation. We are responsible for providing comprehensive legal support to Comcare's governance and corporate operations.

Job Description:

As a Legal Adviser, you will be working under supervision to develop client-focused legal advice and support to Comcare staff on legal and policy matters. You will manage risk effectively and ensure that your workload is managed consistently with the APS Values and Code of Conduct, the Legal Services Directions 2017, and internal Comcare procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide expert legal advice to Comcare staff on various legal and policy matters;
">
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation;
">
Manage risk effectively and ensure that all work is completed in accordance with established standards and procedures;

Work collaboratively with other teams within Comcare to achieve organizational goals.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience:
">
To be eligible for this role, you must have admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory. You must also hold a current Practising Certificate or be able to obtain one within three months.

Eligibility and Specific Conditions of Employment:
">
Character clearance (Australian Criminal History Check) and Employee Health Declaration are required. A six-month probationary period applies to new engagements.
