Job Description
Senior Fashion Designer at our fashion label plays a crucial role in leading the creative vision and execution of the brand's collections. They are responsible for conceptualizing designs, overseeing the design process, managing a design team, and ensuring that the label maintains its high-quality standards and luxury appeal. Below is a detailed job description:
Key Responsibilities:
• Creative Direction & Concept Development:
• Lead the creative development of seasonal collections, from concept to final product.
• Research and forecast fashion trends, materials, and techniques that align with the brand’s luxury aesthetic.
• Develop innovative designs that embody the brand's identity and appeal to its high-end clientele.
• Create mood boards, sketches, and technical drawings to illustrate design concepts.
• Design Execution:
• Oversee the entire design process, from sketching and draping to finalizing garments.
• Work closely with pattern makers, sample makers, and technical teams to ensure that designs are produced with the highest level of craftsmanship and precision.
• Ensure that fabrics, colors, and silhouettes are in line with the brand’s creative vision and quality standards.
• Supervise fittings and make necessary adjustments to designs to ensure proper fit and overall aesthetic.
• Collection Planning & Presentation:
• Collaborate with the Creative Director and other senior designers to develop a cohesive collection for each season, maintaining a balance between innovation and the brand’s heritage.
• Participate in presentations and fashion shows, working on runway collections and overseeing the styling of looks.
• Collaborate with marketing, merchandising, and sales teams to ensure the commercial viability of designs and alignment with market trends.
• Team Leadership & Collaboration:
• Manage and mentor a team of junior designers, pattern makers, and assistants, guiding them throughout the design process.
• Provide feedback and support to the design team, ensuring a collaborative and productive work environment.
• Work closely with the production team to ensure that designs are produced on time, within budget, and with the highest quality standards.
• Partner with external suppliers and manufacturers to source the best materials and ensure timely delivery of samples and final products.
• Trend & Market Research:
• Continuously research global fashion trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies in fashion design.
• Attend trade shows, fabric fairs, and industry events to stay current with fashion trends and innovations.
• Analyze customer feedback and sales performance to refine designs and align with market demands.
• Sustainability & Innovation:
• Explore sustainable materials and ethical production methods to integrate into the brand’s luxury collections.
• Push the boundaries of design by experimenting with new techniques, materials, and production technologies.
• Brand Representation:
• Represent the brand at key events, including fashion shows, exhibitions, and press events.
• Act as a spokesperson for the label in interviews and media appearances, when necessary.
• Collaborate with celebrity stylists and influencers to create custom pieces or promote collections.
Qualifications:
• Experience: 7-10+ years of experience in fashion design, with at least 3-5 years in a senior design role at a luxury or high-end fashion label.
• Skills:
• Strong creative vision and an understanding of the luxury fashion market.
• Expertise in garment construction, fabric manipulation, and textile sourcing.
• Proficient in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD) and hand sketching.
• Excellent knowledge of pattern making, draping, and tailoring techniques.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field; a Master’s degree or equivalent training in fashion design is a plus.
• Personal Attributes:
• A passion for luxury fashion and attention to detail.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a design team.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
