Senior Database Administrator PostgreSQL

We are seeking a skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining our PostgreSQL database systems, migrating our existing databases to PostgreSQL, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.Responsibilities:- Database Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL database software and related products.- Performance Monitoring and Tuning: Monitor database performance and tune system parameters to ensure optimal performance. - Ensure the optimal Infrastructure is used. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.- Migration: Experience in database migration, preferably from MySQL to PostgreSQL and Oracle to PostgreSQL.- Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain database backup and recovery strategies. Perform regular backups and test recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.- High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions, such as replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms.- Security Management: Implement and enforce security best practices, including access control, data encryption, and vulnerability management. Monitor database security and respond to security incidents.- Capacity Planning: Monitor database growth and forecast future capacity requirements. Plan and implement capacity upgrades as needed to support business growth.- Database Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as database reorganizations, index rebuilds, and statistics updates, to optimize database performance and stability.- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve database-related issues and incidents. Work with application developers and support teams to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines. Share knowledge and best practices with team members.Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator.- PostgreSQL and Oracle/MySQL, Cloud DBA (AWS/AZURE/GCP), Optimizing queries, Data migration. Our working environment is GCP and Knowledge on Shell Scripting- 75% into Administration 25% DB Programming (writing and optimizing SQL Queries, Stored procedures etc.) - In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, configuration, and administration.- Proficiency in SQL and database performance tuning.- Experience with database backup and recovery procedures.- Hands-on experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions.- Strong understanding of database security principles and best practices.- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.- Effective communication and collaboration skills.- Relevant certifications (e.g., PostgreSQL Certified Professional) are a plus.- Knowledge on Oracle DBA experience is desirable.
