Senior Counsel Vice President

The Senior Counsel is a senior professional position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to manage and direct day-to-day legal activities in coordination with the Legal team. The overall objective of this role is to provide legal support, advice and guidance across a broad range of practice areas.

Responsibilities:

Manage day to day activities of Legal team(s) within a country, product or sub-unit
Provide legal advisory services to business managers and provide enterprise legal support which includes advising on all governance related activities, inter - company document review, real estate matters, third party documentation review, etc.
Advise on litigations and disputes/issue concerning customers, employees, statutory authorities and other third parties
Supervise and engage with external counsels and resolve moderately complex issues
Managing regulatory reporting related to litigations and audit processes for the Legal team.
Continuously stay informed of regulatory changes, new regulations, internal policy changes and developments in the law
Allocate and coordinate resources and conduct planning and budgeting activities, as needed
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
8-10 years of relevant experience
Valid Bar license to practice law
Banking/financial industry experience preferred or experience from big law firm
Extensive knowledge and understanding of area of responsibility
Comprehensive knowledge of local, state and Indian laws and practices
Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
Past experience in managing litigation MIS, regulatory reporting and audits in relation to litigations
Proven analytical and organizational skills
Education:
Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Master's degree preferred
