Our Opportunity
Location: Perth – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people
Roster: Monday to Friday
Flexible working - up to 2 days per week working from home

This role is responsible for supporting end-to-end contract and procurement activities across Fortescue’s Major Projects Portfolio.

With a focus on construction works and services, capital procurement, and post-award contract management, you will play a key role in delivering commercially robust outcomes aligned to project schedules, budgets, and compliance requirements.

The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to manage risk, optimise value, and ensure effective contract execution and close-out.
Key Responsibilities
Provide input into project contracting and procurement strategies, including advice on packaging, delivery models, interface risks, resource requirements, and market capability
Lead the development, coordination, evaluation and execution of tender packages for construction contracts, equipment and services, ensuring alignment with project objectives and contracting and procurement strategies
Negotiate contract terms and pricing to support project schedules, budgets and commercial outcomes with appropriate risk profiles
Prepare clear, structured contract documentation, including drafting terms, pricing schedules, methods of measurement and rules of credit
Prepare and manage contract award recommendations and supporting documentation for internal approvals and contract execution
Manage contracts post-award, including performance and relationship management, contract administration, payment claim assessments, correspondence and notices, and close-out activities
Lead or support claims management and dispute avoidance and resolution processes, including assessment of variations, delay (EOT) and disruption claims, supported by a strong understanding of construction programs
Identify, assess and manage commercial and contractual risks during pre-contract and delivery phases, engaging technical, legal and other stakeholders as required
Identify and drive cost-saving opportunities and value outcomes through competitive sourcing, negotiation and effective contract management
Maintain accurate procurement and contract records, ensuring compliance and reporting requirements are met, and provide insights and reporting to support decision-making
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external contractors across multiple work packages to ensure alignment, collaboration and delivery of project outcomes
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in projects related contracting and procurement activities within mining, infrastructure, oil and gas, including exposure to civils, SMP and EIC works
Tertiary qualification in law, commerce, engineering, construction management, quantity surveying or similar (or equivalent experience)
Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex work packages across project phases
Strong capability in contract negotiation, administration, and claims management
Sound understanding of project delivery models, construction contracts, and commercial risk allocation
Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced project environment with competing priorities
High attention to detail and ability to produce clear, accurate and commercially sound documentation
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across engineering, legal and project controls
Proactive, accountable and outcome driven, with the ability to work independently and contribute to high-performing teams
Demonstrated alignment with organisational values, contributing positively to safety, culture and sustainable project delivery
