Senior Content Writer — SEO & Content Strategy
Experience 4–5 years in content writing, with 2+ years in SEO content strategy
Location Kolkata, WFO , 5 Days Working
About the Role
Red Apple is looking for a Senior Content Writer who thinks like a content strategist, not just a writer. This role is for someone who understands how content earns rankings, builds topical authority, and moves a prospective player or client through the funnel.
You'll own content that is planned around search intent and site architecture from day one — every page you write should have a clear job in a content cluster, a clear stage in the funnel (TOFU/MOFU/BOFU), and a clear link path back to the pillar pages we most need to rank. You'll work closely with the CMO and SEO team to turn keyword and competitor research into a content calendar, and turn that calendar into content that actually ranks and converts.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy & SEO Architecture
• Build and maintain topical authority for assigned areas of the site — understanding what “full topic coverage” looks like versus a competitor, and identifying white space, red zones, and winnable gaps.
• Plan and execute content clusters using hub-and-spoke architecture: one authoritative pillar page supported by multiple spoke articles, all interlinked to concentrate topical relevance and link equity.
• Map every content piece to a stage of the funnel — TOFU (awareness), MOFU (consideration), BOFU (decision) — and write with the intent and CTA appropriate to that stage.
• Translate keyword research, SERP analysis, and competitor content gaps into content briefs, outlines, and a prioritized editorial calendar.
• Design and maintain internal linking strategy so link equity flows correctly from spoke content up to money/pillar pages.
Content Creation
• Website Content: Write and optimize core website pages, service/product pages, and pillar pages that rank and convert.
• Blog & Cluster Content: Research, outline, and write spoke/blog articles that support pillar pages and target long-tail, intent-specific keywords.
• Case Studies & White Papers: Develop in-depth case studies and white papers that demonstrate expertise and support MOFU/BOFU decision-making.
• E-books & Lead Magnets: Write resource-driven content that supports lead generation and nurtures prospects through the funnel.
• Sales Collateral: Produce brochures, one-pagers, and presentations that support the sales team.
Optimization & Collaboration
• Write and structure every page for on-page SEO and E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trust) best practices, as well as emerging GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) considerations for AI-driven search.
• Collaborate with SEO, design, and product teams to ensure content supports overall site architecture and business goals.
• Monitor content performance (rankings, organic traffic, engagement, conversions) and revise underperforming content.
• Maintain a consistent brand tone, style, and voice across all content and platforms.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 4–5 years of professional content writing experience, including demonstrated SEO content strategy work.
• Working understanding of topical authority — able to explain how a site earns it and how to plan content to build it.
• Practical experience with content clusters and hub-and-spoke architecture — can plan a pillar/spoke structure from a seed keyword.
• Solid grasp of the marketing funnel and can write distinctly for TOFU, MOFU, and BOFU intent.
• Strong keyword and SERP research skills, and comfort turning research into content briefs.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills across long-form and short-form formats.
• Ability to manage multiple content projects and deadlines independently.
Preferred Skills
• Hands-on experience with SEO tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Search Console, or similar.
• Familiarity with schema/structured data markup and how it supports rich results.
• Experience writing for B2B or technology/SaaS/gaming audiences with a clear understanding of the sales funnel.
• Knowledge of content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and basic on-page SEO implementation.
• Preferred Domain fluency in - Game Development, Software Development.
• Familiarity with backlink strategy and how digital PR supports content rankings.
