We are seeking a motivated, experienced civil engineer to join our Port Hedland team to lead drainage, sewer, and earthworks projects, drive technical excellence, and ensure safe, timely delivery.
Position Overview
The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for the planning, supervision, and delivery of drainage, sewer, and earthworks works on competitive mining and civil projects. The role requires hands-on delivery capability, strong coordination with subcontractors and suppliers, and a commitment to safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of drainage, sewerage, and earthworks packages from concept through to handover.
- Prepare and review design drawings, specifications, and models; ensure compliance with relevant Australian standards and client requirements.
- Develop and implement construction methodologies, schedules, and resource plans; monitor progress and adjust as needed to meet milestones.
- Manage material ordering, procurement, and logistics for field operations; liaise with suppliers and ensure timely delivery to site.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, cost controls, and subcontractor quotes; track variations and cost-to-complete.
- Coordinate earthworks, drainage, and sewer works with other disciplines (surveying, geotechnical, environmental, traffic, etc.).
- Oversee site works to ensure quality, workmanship, and compliance with QA/QC procedures; conduct inspections and audits.
- Enforce and uphold safety practices; lead toolbox talks, risk assessments, JSA/WSHE plans, and incident investigations.
- Prepare technical reports, progress updates, daily/weekly lookaheads, and as-built documentation.
- Interface with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to communicate progress, risks, and solutions.
- Ensure compliance with WA Aboriginal Heritage, environmental requirements, and local permissions when applicable.
Experience and Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in drainage, sewer, and earthworks within mining or heavy civil projects.
- Chartered or near-chartered status is preferred (or working toward CPEng/ACIWA equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of Australian standards and codes (e.g., AS 3500, AS 3600, AS 2601, AUSTROADS, DEWHA/Environmental guidelines, and WA client standards).
- Proficiency with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, 12D Model, or similar) and project management tools.
- Experience with material procurement, subcontractor management, and on-site coordination.
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, civil works plans, and geotechnical data.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills; ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Pay: $104,517.27 – $180,459.96 per year
